#1 Seed Again!

It has been about 4 years since the last time the Los Angeles Lakers were the #1 seed entering the playoffs.  Not only did they secure home court advantage, and an almost assured trip to round 2, but they pretty much secured the MVP for Kobe Bryant.  This will be the first time in his career that he wins it.  Yes I know, it is hard to believe.  So welcome to the 2008 NBA Playoffs. Congrats to the Kansas Jayhawks!

What a game it was last night.  This game was a back and forth battle all the way to the final buzzer.  Memphis was obviously the heavy favorite, but in the end Kansas was the stronger team.  The final score was 75-68 in favor of Kansas, and was decided in overtime.  This marks the first championship title for Kansas since 1988, with Danny Manning leading the way.  Exactly 20 years ago…….weird. Let me start by saying this, you could make an argument for any of the players involved in the MVP consideration. Kobe, CP3, Lebron, KG.

Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Lebron James, Chris Paul

I think Lebron is removed because his team is just not good enough in a weak eastern conference. They are guaranteed to not even win 50 games in that same eastern conference. He’s got great personal numbers but much like Kobe’s 04-05 season.The Celtics are still a top 4 team in the east without KG and when he went down earlier, they were still winning. His numbers are not even close to MVP numbers and they are below his career averages. Continue reading
