Welcome Back Manny

Manny Ramirez - Los Angeles Dodgers

Manny Ramirez - Los Angeles Dodgers

After 4 months of negotiations, and 5 different offers, the deal for Manny Ramirez FINALLY got done.  Welcome back to “the real” LA Manny.  So Dodgers fans break out the gloves in the outfield seats, and lets see those dreadlocks flowing again, because this is going to be a GREAT season.  The contract ended up being for 2 years and $45mil with a opt out clause after this year.  The opt out clause I actually like a lot, due to the fact that Manny will HAVE to play hard to increase his worth for next season.  Nothing but smiles of joy over here. The Los Angeles Dodgers have finally made a move in this off-season that will better the ball club on-field.  Pending a physical, the Dodgers and Andruw Jones have come to terms on a 2 year $36 million contract.  This is a HUGE signing for the Dodgers, who lack a big bat in their order.  The Dodgers were said to have been interested in Miguel Cabrerra, but he would have come at a very steep price.  By signing Jones, the accomplish a lot for their team.  Will he help the Dodgers on their quest for the postseason?  I hope so. Baseball’s Off-Season

The winter meetings are coming up next week, and there should a couple big names on the move by week’s end.  The Miguel Cabrerra and Johan Santana talks are by far the most interesting development this off-season.  At least now that Alex Rodriguez is back in pinstripes.  The teams that are said to be the front runners in the Cabrerra sweepstakes are also said to be in the race for the services of baseball’s best pitcher.  Beyond those two TRADES there are still a couple quality free agents out there that should be looking for a team very soon,  Andruw Jones, and Aaron Rowand just to name a few.  Where will they end up? Alex Rodriguez a Yankee for Life?

Well for those of you that have been following the A-Rod free agency, or should I say followed what was the Alex Rodriguez free agency, you should already know that the best everyday player in baseball is staying put in the pinstripes.  With an offer somewhere in the neighborhood of $275 million over 10 years, once again he set a record.  For everyone who was hoping that he would be picked up by your team, including myself, sorry.  Not gonna happen in our lifetime.
