Congrats to the Kansas Jayhawks!

What a game it was last night.  This game was a back and forth battle all the way to the final buzzer.  Memphis was obviously the heavy favorite, but in the end Kansas was the stronger team.  The final score was 75-68 in favor of Kansas, and was decided in overtime.  This marks the first championship title for Kansas since 1988, with Danny Manning leading the way.  Exactly 20 years ago…….weird. Playoff System Yet?

How much longer must the college football world be bored and annoyed with the BCS system?  Will they change their system after this year?  Will it take another two or three years like this one for them to change the format?  We will have to see.  With both Missouri and West Virginia losing their final games the BCS standings got shaken up a lot.  #3 Ohio St. moved up to the #1 spot will LSU, somehow, got bumped up to #2.  Is it me or does it seem as though LSU are the people who control the BCS rankings? NCAA Championship Weekend

This year has been a very interesting year in the college football season. With top ranked teams losing every week, smaller schools getting ranked higher than they’ve ever been, which inevitably made championship weekend all the more fun. #1 ranked Missouri played #9 ranked Oklahoma for the Big 12 title, while #2 ranked West Virginia played Pittsburgh for the Big East title. Now people were worried about both of the top ranked teams losing this weekend, because that would completely throw off the BCS rankings like no other. It would have sent Ohio St. to the national championship game, and most likely Georgia as well. Ohio St. is understandable, however Georgia is a team that couldn’t even win their conference. Good for them, bad for the fans. This is just another example of why the BCS ranking system is garbage. I wont get into that now, I’ll save it for it’s own post. Was this the weekend when college football finally forced the powers that be to change the format? Lets take a look at what happened on Saturday. Continue reading

USC vs UCLA

Lightning in a bottle 2 years in a row for UCLA? I think not. There are no surprises this year, UCLA isn’t the same team, the defense isn’t playing as well as it was last year and USC is playing the best football it has all year at the right time. People will say, did you see what the Bruins did to Oregon? Continue reading

Pac 10 Race

Well it look as if the Pac 10 race is heating up with 1 game in the season left.  As it stands right now Arizona St. is in 1st with USC in second.  Both schools have a conference record of 6-2.  However USC did win the head to head match-up last Friday with a 44-24 rout.  This weekend USC plays the Bruins and the Sun Devils take on their inner-state rival the Wildcats.  Continue reading
